MaMa augments the grass roots cry to implement Kenya’s marine legislation. We have to
organize a relentless pace of meetings just to keep up with our grass roots.

The popular meetings that we lead push for the Fisheries Department, KWS and the rest of the
Kenyan Government to safeguard our marine resources in a harmonious and sustainable way.

MaMa educates our fellow fishermen of their legal rights and to fight the battle against
outsiders’ abuse of our marine environment. We provide volunteer training and advice for them
to organize and manage their own local fishing groups.

We reach out to tourist operators, whose livelihood also depends on the sustainability of our
marine environment. Our volunteers regularly clean up Marine Park beaches and provide
support for other groups to organize for clean up outside the Park.

We welcome everyone’s help to promote unity and collective responsibility.
